Well as many will know I am on Adsense account number 8 now and I have
never had any success with an appeal but a recent post by Shaun over
at Hobo will give hope to many…

Well many of my links go to www.seoidiot.com and half as many go direct to www.seoidiot.co.uk/ so just to see how my good friends at Google handle this nowadays I have 301′d to the blog from root.

Should be interesting (I have a client I need to do this for so best try it here first eh )

OsCommerce making all the non www pages be www

Well I have been busy as ever, this time wrestling with OsCommerce for my wifes online business….

By default good old OsCommerce likes to present itself in the non www. way but my change to the urls means i have em all as www. now.

So a simple rewrite later and we are good to go… except the fucking admin section now doesnt work, i hate rewrites…

OK here is the code (pop it in your .htaccess file in the root of the domain.) for anyone who wants to make sure their oscommerce store only shows as www.domain.com pages and not domain.com and so you can still use the admin section…

RewriteEngine On RewriteBase / RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^www\.somedomain\.co\.uk [NC] RewriteRule ^(.*) http://www.somedomain.co.uk/$1 [L,R=301]

RewriteBase /admin/
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^www\.somedomain\.co\.uk [NC]
RewriteRule ^(.*) http://somedomain.co.uk/$1 [L,R=301]

Also remember to tell Google via webmaster tools that you want then to only use the www. pages..

Heres what I did to move slowly from adsense to affiliate on many of my sites and try to get off the Google drug…

If you havent already go get Adlogger (http://www.adlogger.org) – its a free open source tool for tracking your Adsense clicks and supposedly helping prevent click fraud.

One neat feature is that in many cases it records the destination url of the advert your visitor clicked on

Well me old mate Esrun has finally come out of blog retirement so I would like to suggest everyone flocks back to one of Matt Cutts (Who?) favourite Blackhat blogs.

Also whilst you are there check out the post on scraping Google without tripping their hey your either a bot or a complete spamming wanker….. guess which we are? – your right Both!

Ohh and whats he been doing whilst he has been away? Trying to kill himself by getting towed on a paraglider behind his own car!
