Google to tell advertisers what sites are showing their ads….

February 26th, 2007

Quote from Jensense.com: -

The New York Times ran an article about Quigo, a contextual advertising company that targets premium sized publishers. In the story, comments from both Yahoo & Google were included. But one quote by Kim Malone, director of online sales and operations for Google AdSense, jumped out… the fact that Google will begin listing all publisher websites where AdWords advertiser’s ads are being run.

In response to further questions about Quigo, though, Google said it was prepared to make changes to its AdSense service that mimicked Quigo’s approach, an unusual step for a company accustomed to mapping the terrain in every aspect of its business. In the next few months, Google’s advertiser reports will begin listing the sites where each ad runs, Ms. Malone said. She added that advertisers on the Google networks would soon be able to bid on contextual ads on particular Web sites rather than simply buying keywords that appeared across Google’s entire network.

Still, Ms. Malone said she did not see much of consequence coming from the changes. “We don’t expect a lot of demand for that placement targeting,” she said. “It’s the brand, the display advertisers who care where they run.”

My comment – OHHHH SHITTTTTT :(

Google Policy Change on MFA Sites?

December 7th, 2006

Dont know about you but I know lots and lots of people who have had their Adsense accounts closed in the past month or two. Many have them closed for being outside the program policies (Cripes who isnt!) so they at least get paid and the unlucky ones who get accused (Accused is the best way to describe it – slander or deformation is perhaps closer) and have their money stolen by Google without proof.

I think that the big G has changed their policy and they are having a cull on the MFA publishers. If you want to talk about what you can do to protect yourself let me know and I will ellaborate as best I can.

Google Policy Change on MFA Sites?

Mike finally rolls out the ads…

November 20th, 2006

Picture this… you have a PR7 blog and in fact within the inner pages there is even a fabled PR9 in that site somewhere…. would you have NO ADS at all…? Well thats what Mike of Newsvine etc etc has been doing (I linked using the word Mike as he likes to rank for his first name LOL)

Its bugged me for an awful long time, in fact its 50 % of the reason i check the site once in a while just to see if Mike had finally cracked and added an ad or two

Well tonight the insanity has cleared and he has added some to test – and he chose (Wait for it – wait for it) Adsense (slaps head in disgust) – Oh and nice targetting Google Laser eye FFS !!!

Patrick – get your ass over there and advertise on that site! Text link ads was made for sites like that…..

About SEOidiot

Hi my name is Paul Madden and I am a UK SEO based in Lancashire, for years I have been cursed by the nickname SEOidiot which started life as a form of abuse from someone but you need to decide for yourself how accurate the term is.

Quotes about me

"Out of all the technical SEOs that I know, Paul Madden stands out as being both amazingly capable and extremely easy to work with. He's quick to point out flaws in your argument, which is nice as I've worked with many people who simply agree with me even when I'm obviously incorrect. The minute you mention an idea to him, he's testing it out, and it's that intellectual curiosity that keeps me constantly coming back to him whenever I need industry advice."
